Methodology
Every 24 hours, the Price Sensor fetches each tracked vendor's official pricing page, extracts tier prices via JSON-LD Schema.org structured data, diffs against the last known snapshot, and publishes a confirmed change only when the extraction confidence is high (currently: JSON-LD Offer blocks). Lower-confidence observations queue for manual review and a planned two-day cross-run corroboration check.
The Index is a weighted aggregate: each detected change is weighted by the tier's previous price so $200 → $220 carries more signal than $5 → $6. Categories shown reflect the vendor's primary use case.
Every detected change is published as a public page with the before/after, the source URL, and a corroborating screenshot of the vendor page (Phase 2). Data is licensed CC-BY-4.0; quote freely with attribution to "saastruecost SaaS Price Index".
